  they go to a bar and all get drunk.

  they dance and make out with "worldly" girls all nite.

  a group of young brothers in the faith go out. they go to a bar and all get drunk. they dance and make out with "worldly" girls all nite. they would have gone home with them had the chance arisen. but they count their losses and drive home.... still drunk. they go to mcdonalds drive thru and park in the parking lot to eat it. when done one of the young brothers lights a cigarette. the rest of them are shocked and angered. they scold him like a father scolding a truly disobedient child. the smoking brother butts out and gets the silent treatment the whole way home....

  this is not a true story but has much truth embedded. has anyone else noticed that smoking is one of the worst sins u can do as a witness?

  The Old International assemblies

  i remember back in the lat 60's earlier 70's the international conventions.

  i thought they were great and we always had dubs from around the world who would stay at our house for the assembly.. .

  one of my best memories is about a group of young sisters from the mid wet who had never really known any black people who stayed at my house and stayed in our guest bedroom during the 7 day assembly .. .

  well if he was a jdub, he would have gotten baptized at 4, started pioneering right away because it's the first privelege u can receive when u get baptized... he'd be in bethel by the time he's 6. at age 8 he'd be an elder.

  depends on ur approach... i have many friends and family who are JW's. i refuse to lose them based on the religion i choose to not be a part of. which means i will never be an ex-JW to the point of being DF'd... plus, my roots are there, and 90% of what makes me ME is tied to the JW's... as much as i hate the religion itself, i certainly would not change my ubringing.

  if u want to maintain any kind of relationship with the JW's u intend on keeping as part of ur life, i suggest biting ur tongue on most of the things u have learned on this and other sites. it's hard, but needed for most people. i always look for an opening, but if it's not given, it's probably not welcomed.

  i've been here before, but it was over a year ago.

  i had to re-register because i couldn't remember my old info.. anyway, i was brought up as a jw.

  my grandmother was one and my mom still is.

  i went through a similar dilema after i finished reading the bible a little over a year ago. i still have a lot of family and friends that are JW's... and since i was never DF'd or DA'd, i'd like to keep them. but as i mentioned, after reading the new testament, i felt like even though i was raised as a christian, i certainly had not done what jesus asked of me. everytime i celebrated the memorial of his death, i refused to partake of what he willingly offered. so i went to a local lutheran church and took communion. if you're looking for the TRUE Christian religion, you're not gonna find it. every single denomination has something a little different about them, with scriptures to back up the differences. you will, however find something closer than what you've experienced as a JW...

  i prefer protestant over catholic because 1) everyone is welcome to partake. 2) both the wine and the bread are used (only the bread is used for partakers of catholic communion... while the priest drinks the wine)

  i saw another bush '04 bumper sticker today and it got me thinking about bumper stickers!!!.

  you know that jws go door-to-door but how many people do they really reach?

  we drive tons of cars and could reach people every day with a simple message and a link to a website like this.

  if you have looked on some of these topics to choose from you would know that witness are neutral on topics on political debts.

  u know u guys could have been a little more subtle in ur responses... maybe subtlety would have roped him in longer and he would have turned to the dark side like the rest of us filthy apostates. we could have dangled a different carrot in front of him while leading him to the pit us blind ones have fallen into. there he could have rested with us, satan, and the demons for a thousand years before meeting our doom. misery loves company and u scared off one more companion we could have all shared.
